Italy requested the envoy's presence on the weekday to protest at what it said were vulgar, disturbing and unacceptable statements by Russian diplomatic representative who connected the fatal incident of a structure in Italy to the nation's defense assistance for Ukraine. The government representative stated that the country would not change its diplomatic approach or its values in response to careless statements. The federation's diplomatic mission later offered regrets for the passing of a Romanian worker in the collapse but seized the moment to complain that the angry response to the statements was anti-Russian.
