Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the championship lead from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team ran a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he lost control at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed corner approaching the last turn on to the main straight.
The veteran wrapped up in P19, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber P3, over half a second off the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
